Robert A. Meredith, 86, formerly of McMurray, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on March 30, 2015. Robert served in the U.S. Signal Corp from 1945-1946, then graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1952. He worked as a controller at Ampco-Pittsburgh and retired at Radioear Corporation, where he also worked as a controller. In 1969, Robert was elected as the first Democrat Council member, Peters Township, PA, until 1980 when he retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. Robert A. Meredith, 86, formerly of McMurray, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on March 30, 2015. Robert served in the U.S. Signal Corp from 1945-1946, then graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1952. He worked as a controller at Ampco-Pittsburgh and retired at Radioear Corporation, where he also worked as a controller. In 1969, Robert was elected as the first Democrat Council member, Peters Township, PA, until 1980 when he retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was an avid bowler, active in the Grand Strand Bowling Association and was elected to the Association's Hall of Fame. In 2010, Robert and Ophelia moved to Roswell, GA to be closer to family. Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ophelia Meredith; son, Jeff (Mary) Meredith, of Marietta, GA; daughter, Lynda (Scott) Brown of Delaware; loving granddaughters, Amanda and Missy Meredith and Laura Brown; brother, Donald Meredith, of McMurray, PA. Services will be held at a later place.
