Bette attended New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC where she grew up most of her life. She enjoyed ballet and tap dancing in her mother's dance studio. Some of Bette`s most fond memories were trips with her mother and other dance students to New York City where they performed big shows and recitals She moved to Atlanta in 1969 with her late husband Richard "Dick" Meeder where she soon became very involved in the local community. Bette was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Associates where she worked tirelessly on fundraising projects including the Decorators Show House. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and worked in various positions around the city such as Atlanta Convention Planners, promoting Atlanta's scenic attractions and local landmarks. Bette attended and was very involved at Roswell Presbyterian Church. She often helped decorate the church for Christmas and also delivered flowers for ones going through difficulties. Bette also loved and cherished her Bible study group

She enjoyed her time gardening, having dinner with family and friends, dancing, and listening to big band and jazz music. She could often be seen at Cafe 290 enjoying Joe Gransden's Big Band or at Seasons 52 sitting at the piano bar. Bette was a genuine "people person." She had a knack for meeting someone and instantly becoming friends for life.
