Daniel Joseph Gezymalla was born on April 8, 1948, to John and Beverly Gezymalla.

Dan passed away on August 2, 2017 at Northside Forsyth Hospital after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 48 years, Ann R. Gezymalla, two children, Kimberly G. Bolivar of Cumming, GA and Kent Daniel Gezymalla of Hilton Head, SC, and his four adoring grandchildren, Daniela Ann Bolivar, Sofia Cristina Bolivar, Isabela Grace Bolivar, and Liam Daniel Gezymalla. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Dan grew up in Wickliffe, OH where he was an all-star athlete. His trophies are still housed in Wickliffe High School for wrestling and football. Dan attended the University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. It was there he met the love of his life, Ann, during their Freshman year. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati before moving to Atlanta, GA in 1971. He went on to teach Business Education and Accounting at Clayton Jr. College while he worked towards a second Masters in Counseling. In 1973, he joined Avon Products, Inc. where he had a 16 year career culminating as an Operations Manager. During the second half of his business career, he launched two successful businesses, GES Temporaries and GES Management before becoming the CFO of S&K Industries.

He was actively involved in the community, volunteering his time with the American Red Cross. He was a member of both the Roswell East Rotary Club (former President) and Roswell Rotary Club. He served as a board member and a term as the board president of the Cottage School, during its founding years. He was always actively engaged and served for every church he attended throughout his life.

Dan had a passion for life, joy, his faith, and his family. There will be a memorial service celebrating his life on Saturday, August 5th, at First Baptist Church of Cumming at 2:00pm.

In honor of Dan, we have created a scholarship fund for first generation college applicants. Dan was the first person in his family to attend college. His education enabled him to move on to greater success and achieve many significant milestones, and we wish to honor him through this fund. Thank you in advance for your donations.
